Denver Colorado’s Dragon Boat Festival Is Worth The Visit!

Denver Colorado’s Dragon Boat Festival Is Worth The Visit!

There are several fascinating and unusual things to see in Denver, Colorado, including the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival! The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, which has been held every year since 1997 at Sloan's Lake Park, will return on July 23 and 24, 2022. After two years of COVID-19 cancellations and toxic algae blooms, the park will be packed with dragon boat races, fantastic cuisine, an Asian market, limitless activities, and thousands of community members congregating for a long-anticipated annual event.

Over 40 racing teams, 20+ food vendors, 50+ marketplace merchants, and live music will all be present at the event. This enclosed event is free to attend, but any monetary donations are appreciated to assist with the organization and programming.

The Shaolin Hung Mei Kung Fu will be performing a 75-foot-long brilliant, traditional Chinese Dragon in Sloan Lake Park, which the organization says "represents chasing away bad energies and bestowing prosperity and good fortune on all of the race teams, vendors, and spectators."

The stage will feature a dragon fountain, which streams water into a pond that serves as the base for the Dragon Boat teams' paddles. On top of Team City's roof, the Dragon will be illuminated and all of the competitors will line up behind it as it passes by the Band Stage, where each team will be introduced.

Teams will compete in a two-day fast-paced dragon boat racing tournament. The Taiwanese-style vessels are once again being produced after a long absence. Each boat will have 18 paddlers, one drummer, and one flag grabber. Attend the finish line to see the dramatic instant when the flag grabber leans out and snatches the banner to win the race!

At the Taste of Asia Food Court, visitors can try foods from all around Asia while shopping until they drop. At the Taste Of Asia Food Court, festival-goers may satisfy their cravings with Asian specialties from all over the world! Food vendors from throughout Asia and the Pacific will offer displays of delicious food! There's something for everyone. At the Marketplace, which also features a variety of one-of-a-kind arts and crafts, vendors may sell items that are comparable to those found in open-air street markets all over Asia.

Every third summer since 2004, the three Performance Stages have offered traditional and contemporary Asian and Asian-American instrumental, vocal, choral, and dance shows by well-known local artists. Denver Taiko, Halau Kalama, and Mudra Dance performed Japanese Taiko drumming in the past. You don't want to miss this!

We would like to take a moment and highlight one of Denver’s local businesses that you need to have on your radar! Peak to Peak Roofing and Exteriors is a local roofing company ready to give you the home of your dreams! Be sure to look them up when you get a chance!
